OR, Portland: July 28, 2012: Grand opening - The Wallz Gallery
The Wallz will open (July 28th 2012) 7-10PM with the goal of quickly becoming the premier Northwest destination for modern and urban art. This 5,000 -square-foot, establishment will soon be one of the best venues in the area to view and purchase work from your favorite street, graphic, and gallery artists.
When they realized they shared an interest in shedding light on and advancing the urban arts movement, cofounders Michael “Mad One” Neely II and Chris “Voxx Romana” Price decided to open The Wallz teaming up with the Lumberyard crew. Price brings many years of gallery and design experience to the venture, while Neely’s extensive knowledge of the public art scene includes working with some of the most progressive artists out there.
The Wallz aims to elevate street art to the level of fine art and design, and to that end we will be bringing you not only sophisticated newcomers, but also the biggest and best names in the field.
This will be a nationwide and local group exhibit with the current walls painted by local artists in an array of mediums.
IElevate magazine will be releasing a NEW Issue

YouTube's new blur-faces tool [updated]
http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/07/protecting-youtubes-revolutionaries.html
There are some problems with this idea you should be aware of. These are the ones I can see right away:
* YouTube gets the original, with the faces (It would be better to use your own tool that doesn't require uploading).
* People might confuse uploading with publishing and publish the wrong one.
* There might be metadata in the video that could identify people related to the video that isn't deleted. A further tool would be needed for that.
* Uploading video requires a login, and your IP address is no doubt logged, so the publisher of the video is always exposed, along with the computer or device used to upload.

TWIST - Barry McGee
The Berkeley Art Museum on Durant Ave. near the University in Berkeley is presenting a show on the work of Barry McGee aka TWIST starting in the early Fall. Barry’s work over the last 25 years has claimed him a place in the art world along with Keith Haring and Jean-Michele Basquiat (coming from the streets).
The Museum will have two lectures tied into the show. The first will be on September 16, a Friday evening with a scheduled conversation between the Museum Director and Jeffrey Deitch, Director of the LA Museum of Contemporary Art. Jeffrey was responsible for mounting the “Art in the Streets” show last April which broke all records for attendance at the Museum’s Geffen site.
Jim Prigoff will be doing a show entitled “The History of Graffiti” on October 19, a Friday night.
